SUMMARY:Humane Webinar | Diversity and Inclusion: fostering institutional happiness and preventing harassment
DESCRIPTION:Nannette Ripmeester will be part of a webinar to talk about ‘Diversity and Inclusion: fostering institutional happiness and preventing harassment’ on October 8th\, as part of HUMANE’s Annual Conference Webinars. \n  \nDiversity and Inclusion: fostering institutional happiness and preventing harassment\nThursday October 8th 13.00-17.00 CEST  \nThis year’s annual conference will now be delivered as part of our autumn webinar series\, over two half days. Future-focussed institutions have shifted the discussion about equality\, diversity and inclusion away from a compliance mindset to one that emphasises the practical benefits of diversity. Yet HE workforces often do not match the diversity of their student bodies and as the Me Too Campaign has shown\, tackling harassment is definitely unfinished business.

SUMMARY:Session: Understanding the ROI of Employability | GIC 2020
DESCRIPTION:The Global Internship Conference is a forum dedicated to advancing the knowledge of academic work placement and experiential education.  As a platform for dialogue\, and a vehicle for action\, the GIC brings together colleagues to discuss and advance best practices as well as develop and examine a research agenda for global internships. GIC 2020 is taking place in Vancouver and Nannette Ripmeester will be there with a session on ‘Understanding the ROI of Employability’. \nResearch shows employability is a key decision-making factor for international students deciding where to study and it is a key motivator for recommendation. In this session\, we’ll share global data insights and how data can be used to inform directions for possible solutions using internships and gamification to inspire the young generation. We will use the ’employability maturity diagnostic’ tool to engage participants in a lively debate whilst evaluating participant institutions’ employability program.

SUMMARY:Poster Session: Measuring Learning Mobility Outcomes | NAFSA 2020
DESCRIPTION:Erasmus Skills\, a European funded project developed a set of innovative tools to help Erasmus students maximize and articulate their study abroad experience. One of those tools is a function that measures and conceptualizes the learning curve of students before and after their mobility program\, mainly focusing on employability competences. \nThis poster will illustrate the Erasmus Skills project & the methodology used to create a tool that allows students to self-assess the competences acquired while studying abroad. It will show the questionnaires that students fulfill before & after mobility and an example of the visual representation of the learning curve between the two questionnaires. Finally\, it will look into how the visualization of the developed tool will help students conceptualize the benefits of their experience\, and use these results in their next steps in life.

SUMMARY:Poster Session: The International Student Journey | NAFSA 2020
DESCRIPTION:The International Student Journey encompasses the selection process\, the actual study abroad experience and the next step upon graduation that makes students recommend their experience. The red thread within this poster presentation is the importance of employability. \nWithin Europe (and beyond) employability is key for both the selection and the recommendation of a host institution. Through case studies\, we aim to showcase how employability (data) can be used to attract and retain international students. What can institutions do to ensure they attract\, support and in the end create brand ambassador alumni? \nData coming from the International Student Barometer ( 3.7M international students) will form the basis. We will include case studies from HEIs across Europe and supplement with solutions to support the marketing & recruitment of international students\, what options seem to work best when students are at the institution and what solutions HEIs have taken to support the next step upon graduation\, from small scale to scalable solution based on everyday realities. Discussion with visitors will create engagement. Links to the case studies will support practical takeaways from across Europe.
