DESCRIPTION:PhD students often face questions around career development\, which differ from the issues ‘regular’ university employees are confronted with. To be able to move ahead and to prepare for their next career step\, a step that is not necessarily taking place in the academic world.  \nA (virtual) high-intensity workshop\, delivered by Nannette Ripmeester\, of two full days tailored to Dutch PhD candidates that provides participants with the necessary tools and tips to understand their career values and identify future career paths based on their interests and skills. \nParticipants will have the opportunity to create their own action plan for their next career step. Most importantly\, they will be able to act on that action plan and take their career towards the next level\, either within academia or beyond. Delegates will feel empowered to look for work in their research field\, inside and outside of the Netherlands. \nKey Learnings: \nAt the end of the workshop\, all participants will: \n\n\nHave a clear picture of their main career values \n\n\nIdentify their strong personal & professional traits \n\n\nKnow how to ‘manage their reputation’ effectively \n\n\nFeel more empowered to create a better fit between career decisions & personal goals \n\n\nGain a better understanding of what career options & opportunities they have with their PhD degree \nin academia\, the corporate and/or the not-for-profit sector \n\n\nUnderstand the differences in a research and professional job applications as well as get some of the \nbasics regarding tailoring their job search to a specific work culture \n\n\nHave improved their CV\, their LinkedIn profile\, their elevator pitch\, and their interview skills \n\n\nComprehend the cultural differences that accompany looking for work across the globe  \n\n\nCourse Language: Dutch
