SUMMARY:WORKSHOP | Understanding employability data in a global context
DESCRIPTION:The Tampere University in Finland hosts a workshop titled “understanding employability data in a global context” on 11 March 2025 (13:00 – 16:00 EET). \nTampere University takes part in the International Student Barometer (ISB). Following the ISB feedback presentation on 11 March\, the 3-hour workshop on the next day will support the understanding of the data related to employability. Combining the observations from Tampere’s own ‘developmental assessment 2024’ with the outcomes of the International Student Barometer 2024\, we will work through the data and its implications. Bringing in examples of good practice and trying to find a common ground between the ‘developmental assessment observations and the ISB data\, the workshop will set the stage for Tampere University to be ready for the changing legislation in Finland and lead the way for a strong employability foundation for its international students.

SUMMARY:Tunghai University: "Preparing for the Global World of Work"
DESCRIPTION:Join Nannette Ripmeester (Director Expertise in Labour Mobility\, Etio) for her session about “Preparing for the Global World of Work – a perspective from Europe and Canada” on October 29th\, 12:00 PM to 17:00 PM\, at Tunghai University in Taiwan. \nAbout the session: \n“The world of work is undergoing major shifts. This session will look at key trends impacting young people across the globe. Nannette Ripmeester will share the outcomes of research conducted in Europe (Erasmus+ projects) and Canada (funded by the Canadian government) to help us understand the impact of student mobility on skills. Understanding the importance of employability skills is critical for students as it will help to understand what skills will get them hired. However\, it is also imperative for higher education institutions as it helps to understand study choice and student recommendation better. Based on a global data set of over 122\,500 students\, Nannette will showcase the importance of creating a ‘line of sight’ between education and future jobs. Return on investment (ROI) is fundamental for this generation of students\, who make choices based on how well it prepares them for the (future) job market. Highlighting what other countries are doing in this respect is the stepping stone for a Q&A session between speaker and audience.” \nInterested in knowing more? Have a look here.

SUMMARY:CAREER GUIDANCE FOR PhD'S AND POSTDOCS (DAY 1) | RADBOUD UNIVERSITY
DESCRIPTION:Goal: \nThis series of workshops is aimed at clarifying career development for both international and Dutch PhD’s or postdocs at the beginning of their career. After the workshops they will have an action plan for career development and will be able to act upon this plan to take their career to the next level. \nContent: \nPhD’s and postdocs often face questions concerning career development – you have to prepare for the next step in your career\, one that is not necessarily taking place in the academic world. To be able to make progress\, you may want some guidance. You need to know your strong and weak points. You need to understand the power of networking. You need an understanding of the job market in both academia and the profit sector. Most importantly\, they will be able to act on that action plan and take their career towards the next level\, either within academia or beyond. Delegates will feel empowered to look for work in their research field\, inside and outside of the Netherlands. \nKey Learnings: \nAt the end of the workshop\, all participants will: \n\nCreate an insight into personal and career goals;\nProvide a systematic process for exploring career needs;\nFocus on current position\, desired goals\, and unique personal resources;\nEnhance practical career skills (in a global world);\nCompare career options to formulate an action plan.\n\nCourse Language: English
