Goal:
This series of workshops is aimed at clarifying career development for both international and Dutch PhD’s or postdocs at the beginning of their career. After the workshops they will have an action plan for career development and will be able to act upon this plan to take their career to the next level.
Content:
PhD’s and postdocs often face questions concerning career development – you have to prepare for the next step in your career, one that is not necessarily taking place in the academic world. To be able to make progress, you may want some guidance. You need to know your strong and weak points. You need to understand the power of networking.
This high-intensity (virtual) 2-day workshop, delivered by Nannette Ripmeester, tailored to PhD candidates and Postdocs will provide participants with the necessary tools and tips to understand their career values and identify future career paths based on their interests and skills. The workshop will help participants get to grips with their international career development and create their own action plan for their next career step, whether that career will be in the Netherlands or elsewhere and whether it is taking place in the academic world or outside of it. Irrespective those choices, to be able to make career progress, candidates may want some guidance. They need an understanding of the job market in both academia and the profit sector, being aware of (international) employment opportunities.
Key Learnings:
With a small group of PhD candidates and Postdocs, we will work in interactive (virtual) sessions. Our approach focuses the attention on strengths and possibilities.
