ELM Foosball league summer 2016
As the Summer Olympics 2016 kick off in Rio, we have a little competition going on in our own office here at ELM. That’s right, in the spirit of sports(wo)manship, we present you ELM Foosball league summer 2016!
Foosball
Of course a table-version of football – as this game is best explained to novices – has different names across countries and continents. After all, cultural differences are in the DNA of Expertise in Labour Mobility! According to mental_floss, the Brits call it ‘table football’ (d’oh), the French – ‘baby foot’, Eastern Europeans – ‘kicker’, and the Spanish – ‘futbolín’. The Americans apparently have borrowed the term ‘foosball’ from the German ‘fuβball’, and so have we 🙂
Our blue and red foosball players have joined the office in 2015 as an encouragement not to sit all the time, and it has worked wonders for our minds, too! But now the time has come to test our foosballing skills for real.
The game is on
Throughout the next couple of weeks, each member of our team will play against each other in the hair-rising game of foosball (well, a carton version of the table…). A set of 3 matches will determine the winner in a one-on-one competition (1 point for result 3:0 or 2:1) before the points are summed up. Passion is sure to be raising the temperature in the office and injuries (paper cuts) are not unlikely!
