All eyes on employability

EU funded ErasmusCareers project is on its way!

Study abroad and student mobility are seen as positive indicators for enhanced employability, however only when students are able to unpack what they have gained while being abroad. We are all too familiar with a student saying it was ‘great fun’. The Erasmus Impact Study shows that students indicate that they feel their participation in Erasmus was beneficial for finding their first job and had a positive impact on their career development. In addition, the ESN survey 2019 showcased a positive impact on their personal development, as their mobility impacted their engagement in society as active citizens as well as social, civic and democratic participation.

Even though this was undoubtedly the case, students will need to dive deeper when they want to maximise the employability benefits of their mobility. Measuring the impact of student mobility on employability outcomes remains difficult. In the ErasmusSkills project, a consortium of UAM, ESN, EUF, ELM, AUTH and UGent tested the assumptions around the benefits of study abroad and exchange experiences, and to find common ground for employability outcomes. However, the proof of concept developed in the Erasmus Skills project does not yet cover a consolidated competence framework that has been peer-reviewed. The new ErasmusCareers project, a consortium of again Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (UAM), Erasmus Student Network (ESN), Expertise in Labour Mobility (ELM), and Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH), together with Tilburg University (TiU), and Lifelong Learning Platform (LLLP) will aim to do just that.

Call for Quality Assurance Evaluator for the ErasmusCareers project

Role Description

For the ErasmusCareers project, we are looking for a Quality Assurance Evaluator that is detail-oriented, thorough, and analytical, but most importantly has a strong knowledge of the international higher education field, a keen understanding of study abroad as well as employability. We are looking to work with an expert in this field that will be able to provide the project partners with feedback on the actions taken and the outcomes of the project. Since all project partners are highly knowledgeable in this field, we need a Quality Assurance Evaluator that is able to have a helicopter view, combined with strong content knowledge.

Tasks

Keeping an eye on the project’s progress and (expected) outputs while at the same time assuring the project meets the standards of the European Commission as the funding body.
